Summary

The CLINICIP system is a low-risk monitoring and control system for metabolic control in critically ill patients. The core of the system is a computer algorithm implemented into an ICU infusion system, which calculates insulin dosage from metabolic parameters to provide decision support for tight glycaemic control. A glucose sensor and a body interface have been integrated to allow for closed-loop insulin infusion.

Project Results at a Glance

A decision support system for glycaemic control will be released to the market in the near future.

All glucose sensors have been proven to give reliable clinical results and will be developed further.

Clinical studies provided proof of concept for glucose and metabolite sensors in combination with a vascular body interface; support for further development is in negotiation.

A number of scientific publications were placed in highly ranked journals for all areas of research involved in the project.

CLINICIP has evolved into THE most important project on the development of a system for tight glycaemic control worldwide.
